Illinois Concealed Carry Class

Illinois Concealed Carry Class

This is the final 8 hours of training you need to complete your 16 hours of training required for an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit.  Students will shoot a minimum of 30 rounds, but should have a minimum of 60 rounds available to account for misfires and 1 reshoot if necessary. This is a pass/fail course. Failure to adhere to safe firearm handling procedures or to place at least 21 out of 30 rounds within the designated scoring area will result in failure of the course.

The class deals specifically with law.  There is a brief overview of safety and handling, followed by a detailed look at Federal Firearms Laws, Illinois FOID Act, Illinois Transportation Laws, Illinois Concealed Carry Laws followed by a qualification shooting test at our range.  Students will receive the Concealed Carry in Illinois Handbook.  There is a live fire qualification requirement.  You will need to fire 30 rounds, 10 each at 10, 7, and 5 yards.  Seventy percent, or 21 out of 30 shots, will need to be inside the scoring rings.  You have two opportunities to qualify, after that we will work with you on skills and requalification for a small fee.

Prior training is required.  The prior training can be an Honorable Discharge DD214, Active Military, the NRA Basic Pistol course, the NRA Personal Protection In The Home course (and several others – click HERE to see all Illinois State Police acceptable prior training courses).   Completion of this course also qualifies you to apply for a Florida Concealed Carry Permit.

We strongly recommend that you do not wear loose fitting tops while shooting. We also recommend that you do wear a hat with a brim while shooting in class. NO open toed shoes allowed on the range!
